Drones- unmanned, remotely-piloted aircraft- have a range of exciting and amazing uses. Horrifically, the US government uses them to fire Hellfire missiles on schools, homes, funerals, weddings, and emergency first responders.
Until that program ends, and the people responsible are charged in international court for war crimes, VCU’s involvement in drone development is inevitably involvement in the US drone ‘warfare’ program. We can’t have that here.
On Monday December 3rd, at DC’s All Souls Unitarian Church (1500 Harvard Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009), at 6pm, David Coombs, the defense attorney for PFC Breanna (known to most of the media as Bradley) Manning will be giving a presentation regarding the case. This public appearance comes immediately after a major pretrial hearing for the whistleblower- next Tuesday the 27th-, who leaked thousands of military files to Wikileaks, exposing US war crimes.
Breanna has been imprisoned without charge by the military for over 900 days, and has spent most of that time in solitary confinement. Here is a link with more information.
